A New York Library Media Specialist is happy she found the Evaluation Tool

"In all of my journal and web searching, I found the Maine Association of School Libraries evaluation most similar to what I would like to see. We have a different format and rubric, but I am writing to seek permission to borrow some of the indicators to use in ours."

"Thank you so much for your response. I have another month to work on a draft for this evaluation and I will share your evaluation with my 2 colleagues. We would cite it gladly. Our superintendent gave us an evaluation as a model to work with that was 15 years old! It had criteria like, "Is neat and well-groomed" and "Shows sound emotional adjustment" !!

"The best part about your evaluation is the Preparation Guide for the LMS to use as a self evaluation. We are not required to have one as a part of our district evaluation but our School Library System offers one as a part of our membership agreement."

The committee that wrote the LMS evaluation gave permission for this district to use the form on our web site as long as they cited the source. We've asked that they share their results with us as well.
