Reading On-Line http://www.readingonline.org/ The electronic journal of the International Reading Association. Contains sections on critical issues; the electronic classroom; developments in literacy and others:

Someone recently requested feedback regarding classroom libraries. I found a resource that might prove interesting. International Reading Association offers a free pamphlet titled "Providing Books and Other Print Materials for Classroom and School Libraries."

  • It includes IRA's recommendations for the number of books per child that should be included in both library media centers and classroom libraries.
  • For a free, single copy, mail your request with a No. 10 self-addressed, stamped envelope to IRA, attn. Dept. E.G., 800 Barksdale Road, PO Box 3139, Newark, DE 09714-8139. Multiple copies can be ordered online for a modest sum at http://www.reading.org/advocacy/press991220.htm
