Bloom's Taxonomy of ThinkingSkills

Bloom's six levels of thinking have been charted via action terms. These terms are used within the activities in this collection. The inclusion of higher level thinking skills within information literacy activities is a valuable model for educators seeking to provide challenges for their students. As you design or modify programs, keep two tools before you: a set of thinking concepts such as Bloom's Taxonomy and a continuum of information skills such as the Information Skills Guide for Maine Educators.

Warning: Do not assume that young children's activities must be restricted to the low end of the scale (knowledge & comprehension). All students need to extend and stretch their minds. Kindergarteners and 12th graders compile lits (knowledge) and then prioritize them (evaluation). Only the topics and subsequent use of these lists need to be age relevant.
