Maine Samplers Part III BELIEFS ABOUT EDUCATION |
|||||||
|
4. We believe that education should include group skills, peer teaching and collaborative products..
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR LIBRARIANS
4. Some place in your library planning book, you may wish to record which teachers employ cooperative learning groups, what they're called and exactly how they operate. By building on the organization already in place, you will save valuable instruction time. (Check the bibliography if you are unfamiliar with collaborative learning.)
WHAT ASSESSMENT MIGHT LOOK LIKE IN THE LIBRARY Note: One type of assessment has been matched with a specific trend only as example . Please remember that there is much overlap and these methods may apply to other situations! 4. Group projects require a different type of evaluation. Individual accountability is very important; don't fall into the easy trap of giving only one overall grade for each project. The teacher/librarian will be focusing on process as well as product. (What function did each person perform? How well did the student work in the group? Etc..)
