Information Literacy Committee

Maine's Comprehensive Local Assessment System and
Library Media Specialists
As work gets underway with developing comprehensive local assessment systems in our schools, we want to provide resources that will assist library media specialists to that end. What is our role in this system? We believe that creating local assessments is a perfect opportunity for developing more collaborative relationships between library media specialists and classroom teachers.

To assist you in getting started, the Information Literacy Committee of the Maine Association of School Libraries has put together a number of resources to help. Our goal is to try to meet the needs of media specialists at all different stages in working on collaborative comprehensive assessments that target information literacy standards.

This is a beginning. As we learn more, additional resources and links will be added. We invite you to contribute and respond to what we have developed. We encourage you to submit examples of assessments that are being implemented in your school. Either send us a link or send an attachment with your work. Our best resource is one another!
