More information: Flyer

There will be over 150 educators (95 school library media specialists and 60 classroom teachers) joining you in Lewiston next week to celebrate their work in design strategies, data gathering, and documentation about student learning.  As school districts in Maine implement Learning Results and develop their Local Assessment System, educators are looking for ways to document the impact of their programs on student learning at the local level.  Dr. Ross Todd, internationally recognized for his work with evidenced-based practice, is looking forward to the second session of Making Them A Class Act.  Evidence-based practice is a way to systematically document how learning-centered activities and collaborative teaching initiatives boost student-learning outcomes. Making Them A Class Act, workshops sponsored by the Maine Association of School Libraries (MASL), have focused on demonstrating the relationship between Maine Learning Results and school library programs. Dr. Todd is also interested in including some of our Maine projects as case studies in his book to be published by Linworth Press.

As you will note in the draft agenda below, you will be working for part of the day in small grade-level groups. Since many of the participants reflect more than one of these levels, it is essential that you REPLY to [ mailto:sylvia.k.norton@maine.gov ]sylvia.k.norton@maine.gov with your preferred level (elementary, middle, or high school).

Dr. Todd will be circulating between groups. To facilitate the discussion within your group, we are asking that you bring ten copies of a one (1) page summary of your project to share with each person in your small group and one additional copy to leave at the registration table.  This one-page summary should include contact information (name, email), school name, grade level, and a description of your project.

AGENDA: Although the final agenda may change slightly, the day will be structured as outlined.
