MASL Executive Board Positions

The Executive Board shall:

1. Serve as the central management agency of the Association.
2. Meet regularly to conduct the business of the Association
3. Establish policy for the Association.
4. Set annual membership dues.
5. Approve a date, between March and June, and a site for Spring Conference.

The Executive Board may:

1. Bestow honorary lifetime memberships.

PRESIDENT

All officers shall perform the duties pertaining to their respective office and such other duties as may be approved by the Executive Board.

The President shall:

1. Preside at Association and Executive Board meetings.
2. Appoint standing committee chairpersons and representatives to allied groups.
3. Appoint a nominating committee at least thirty (30) days before Spring Conference.
4. Appoint special committees deemed necessary by the Executive Board.
5. Coordinate the work of the Executive Board and the Association as [so] that it proceeds efficiently toward meeting organizational goals.
6. Oversee implementation of policies set by the Executive Board.
7. Submit an annual budget, goals, and an annual report.

FIRST VICE PRESIDENT

All officers shall perform the duties pertaining to their respective office and such other duties as may be approved by the Executive Board.

The First Vice President shall:

1. Preside at meetings should the President be absent.
2. Plan and organize the Spring Conference.
3. Serve as liaison to the MLA Executive Board.
4. Submit an annual budget, goals, and an annual report.

SECOND VICE PRESIDENT

All officers shall perform the duties pertaining to their respective office and such other duties as may be approved by the Executive Board.

The Second Vice President shall:

1. Preside at meetings should the President and First President be absent.
2. Serve as chairperson of the scholarship committee.
3. Monitor the constitution of [for] currency and necessary amendment.
4. Plan and organize the Fall Conference.
5. Be responsible for the Executive Board handbook: adding policy as established, adding significant position statements and testimony, and collecting, updating, and redistributing the handbooks annually.
6. Submit an annual budget, goals, and an annual report.

IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT

The Immediate Past President shall:

1. Serve as chairperson of the awards committee.
2. Submit an annual budget, goals, and an annual report. SECRETARY

All officers shall perform the duties pertaining to their respective office and such other duties as may be approved by the Executive Board.

SECRETARY

The Secretary shall:

1. Record the minutes of Association and Executive Board meetings.
2. Duplicate and distribute Executive Board minutes to all members of the Board.
3. Prepare and publish minutes of Association business meetings for the membership.
4. Provide advance notice of board meetings to all members of the board.
5. Compile and publish goals and annual reports of the Executive Board for the membership.
6. Insure that notice of all regular and special meetings of the Association is sent to the membership thirty (30) days in advance of the meeting.
7. Submit an annual budget, goals, and an annual report.

TREASURER

All officers shall perform the duties pertaining to their respective office and such other duties as may be approved by the Executive Board.

The Treasurer shall:

1. Maintain records of all income and disbursements of the Association.
2. Maintain accounts in the Association name as appropriate and pay all bills as budgeted or approved by the Executive Board.
3. Maintain the scholarship fund and pay scholarships as approved by the Executive Board.
4. Prepare and distribute a current financial report for regular Executive Board meetings.
5. Prepare a financial report for the business meetings of the Association.
6. Oversee preparation of an annual budget to be ready for acceptance at the Summer Executive Board meeting.
7. Submit an annual budget, goals, and an annual report.
