2004 School Library Media Specialist of the Year

Kathy Foss, Camden-Rockport Middle School

The Maine Association of School Libraries is proud to celebrate the work of Kathy Foss of Camden-Rockport Middle School, by awarding her the 2004 Walter J. Taranko Library-Media Specialist of the Year award. She was nominated for this honor by Jim Morse, a teacher at Camden-Rockport Middle School, and the nomination was enthusiastically supported by her many colleagues. Kathy was feted at the recent Maine Libraries Conference at the Augusta Civic Center, where as part of her remarks, she said she had "the best job in the world."

The Taranko award is named in memory of Walt Taranko, who for many years was a leading light and enthusiastic mentor to school libraries and librarians in Maine. Kathy has the best job in the world because she herself has made it so, and MASL is honored by her membership.
