Treasurer's report: no bills received yet from Maine Entry or reprinting of Springboard, no income during March, expenses $167.66, checking at $7,890.88.

1. McCampbell, Winnebago, and LMS Award discussed. Suggested that award announcement with pictures be sent to major Maine papers, to MEA newsletter, flyers with picture in every staff mailbox at winners'schools, and placed on web site. Suggested that LMS winner has a visible role for the year, and that we recognize past winners at conference. Motion passed to authorize decision by subcommittee of LMS and Winnebago Awards.

2. Conference discussion: flyers ready, web site in progress, auction donations needed,  please let Gretchen know what is coming rickasam@mfx.net

3.   Web page: copy and paste information and send to Gail Web Manager

4.  Logo discussion: Logo needs to be decided by May 1 meeting, Motion passed for logo decision by subcommittee with web showing of 2-3 best designs and email input from Board.

5. Springboard brochure ready for final approval, Audrey will get testimonials for it.

6. Discussion about MEA testing, Motion passed that Board reestablish library liaison with MEA. Motion passed that MASL Board invite appropriate person to discussion of Information Literacy and MEA testing. Walter will follow up on this.

Combined ACTEM and MASL Board common issues discussions:

1. MSLN future information needed now for school budget decisions, add information as it arises on both web sites. www.actem.k12.me.us

2. Conference sharing: ACTEM uses Augusta Civic Center, MINT network setup, handles 700 attendees, scheduled for Oct 15, 1999.

3. Dual membership options, John and Sylvia will brainstorm possible structures and outline potential for ACTEM Fall conference.

4. Terminology and role confusion: "technology" is part of the library or the computer lab?  Technology coordinator handles networks, computers, or integration of technology? "Programming" belongs in computer science. ACTEM focus is education, not maintenance. How to sell the roles of the technology coordinator and the librarian as cooperative, not competitive. Proposed:  we present a cooperative model at ACTEM's Fall Conference, the Fall Principals' conference (and/or Maine School Management Conference), and the Spring Library conference. Use the Venn diagram example of librarian, technology coordinator, and classroom teacher working on one project. Focus on strengths of each role and the development of critical thinking skills for the students. Sylvia and John will develop this further if you have examples for a model, please send to Sylvia sylvian@saturn.caps.maine.edu

5. Curriculum development and the Learning Results: how are the technology coordinator and the librarian included?, work together to find means to include in local curriculums.

6. Cooperative buying: ACTEM quarterly newsletter five information, district needs to be ACTEM member to participate.

7. Proposed: we establish Board member liaisons in both groups.

Next MASL Board Meeting is May 1, at State Library. Agenda to include Goals review, and ACTEM/MASL connections discussion follow-up.

Meeting adjourned 12:05
Respectfully submitted
