Gardner High School (with tour) Present: Francie Aley, Gretchen Asam, Tamara Blesh, Nancy Grant, Linda Hazard, Lynn McHatten, Sylvia Norton, Walt Taranko Secretary's report approved. Treasurer's report: Expenses $25.82, up coming costs will include reprinting Springboard, and Sylvia attending ALA. Committee Reports:
2. Information Literacy: brochure planned for increasing Springboard sales, testimonials needed about use of book, current curriculum questions on MeLibs shows need for getting curriculum and Learning Results connections in the public eye. 3. Legislative: LD 666 to designate Foglers as an official state research library, this will allow database purchases with school library access. LD 630 received an "ought to pass". 4. Intellectual Freedom: Statement on Internet Access and Filtering policy statement presented for editing, suggestions to include "educational setting" in place of "library" and focus on collaboration with classroom professionals, voting on final statement for April meeting. 5. State Board: Betty Mitchell is introducing bill to add five days to school calendar, sixteen schools are on ATM list, 22 will be by July. Phone conference with NEEMA and Nicenet access:(next meeting April 10, Londonderry, NH) A. New England Electronic Media Association wants to acquire NEEMA's domain name suggested scholarships for students, media present, member NEEMA Board on Electronic Board, and significant donation as trading items. B. NEEMA's leadership committee chairs chosen, booking conference site and date soon, focus on Librarian and Principal C. NEASC has requested help from NEEMA for changing guidelines, MASL volunteered to help. Old Business:
2. Essential Services: concerns about this need help from members, put the numbers on MeLibs and request impact. New Business: President's notes;
2. ALA has a new membership campaign, only 10% of school librarians in ALA, will look at ALA requests at May Board meeting 3. MEA invited representative from MAS to April 9-10 Samoset conference. 4.
