Come to MASL's Spring Fling this year to join your colleagues for a day-long examination of the Common Core and it's impact on school libraries. The day will begin with registration and coffee at 8:30am. At 9am we'll gather to hear from the MDOE team responsible for implementation of the Common Core in our state. After their presentation we'll break for a delicious Brunch that will inlcude the presentation of MASL's WJT Library Media Specialist of the Year Award. Then the real work begins.
The rest of the day will be used to examine best practices, what we're doing right and what still needs to be done. We'll approach the work from all three grade levels, elementary, middle and secondary and intend this time to be used to look at what we need to implement these standards in our school librariesas as well as the ways that school library staffs are already addressing the Common Core.
And we want to know what you need before you come on the 27th so we'll be sending registrants a pre-event survey so that our programming will better match your need. We're also inviting a select number of vendors who provide resources diretly related to the Common Core to exhibit that day. So there will be lots to see and share. You need to be there too!
Registration which includes brunch and snacks will be $65 for MASL members, $90 for non-members. Members can get a $10 discount by bringing a non-member to the event (a teacher, administrator or non-member colleague they would like to work with) and the non-member they bring will be able to register at the member rate of $65, A good deal for everyone.
We'll also provide certificates for 5 contact hours for this event.
